Connecting the towns of Meeker and Yampa Colorado, the 80 mile Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway is an unforgettable destination full of pristine scenery and excellent opportunities for recreation. Visitors to the byway can enjoy driving through while exploring forests, meadows, rivers, and so much more. From hiking trails for all fitness levels to world class hunting and fishing, visitors to our area can appreciate the energetic atmosphere and gentle serenity of the White River National Forest. Snowmobile riders and cross-country skiers seeking winter sport find perfect powder along the Byway while visitors to the Flat Tops Wilderness can discover solitude and breathtaking views. Aside from recreation, our area contains a cache of interesting history and intrigue. Located in Meeker, the White River Museum provides a unique view into the past. Old photos and antique possessions are on display; you'll see clothing ranging from wedding gowns to soldiers' uniforms. Artifacts from the Ute indian tribe are also featured here. In this special setting, you can immerse yourself in the history of the White River Valley. The Byway is not an ordinary destination for recreation. It endures even today as a working byway, speckled with timber-producing woodlands, active mines, and ranches. In addition to offering an unlimited array of outdoor activities for every season, the Flat Tops Trail is a pleasing trek into the remarkable world of the regal Rocky Mountains.
